The Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) is a comprehensive two-year paramedical program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required for diagnostic laboratory work. This course offers in-depth training across a range of essential subjects, including Human Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Hematology and Pathology.
Through a blend of theoretical lessons and practical hands-on experience, students learn how to operate laboratory equipment, perform diagnostic procedures, and ensure accuracy in laboratory settings. Upon graduation, students are well-prepared for careers as medical lab technicians, pathology technicians, or phlebotomists, with opportunities in hospitals, clinics, and research labs.
How to Apply: Applications for admission for the management seats can be obtained from the office of Tamam Institute of Medical Education & Research, Kumarapuram, Near Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram.
Fees: The first year fees should be paid at the time of admission and the second year fee should be paid at the start of the second year course as decided by the management in accordance with the Government Orders for the course.
Students must have passed their higher secondary education (10+2) with science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) with more than 50% marks.
The program covers both theoretical knowledge and practical training in laboratory techniques, safety measures, and the operation of modern diagnostic equipment.
Those who successfully completed can work in roles such as lab assistants, clinical laboratory technicians, blood bank technicians, cyto-technicians, histopathology technicians, biochemistry technicians, microbiology technicians, and even as water/food quality analysts and technicians in sewage treatment plants.
Upon successful completion, students are registered as laboratory technicians by the Paramedical Council, Government of Kerala, and will also receive a license to open a laboratory.

Microbiology
